A check valve is an automatic valve primarily designed to prevent backflow of the medium. It operates by relying on the flow pressure of the medium itself to open or close the valve disc. Common types include lift-check, swing-check, and wafer (or dual-plate) check valves.
With its simple structure and reliable operation, the check valve is widely used in applications where reverse flow must be prevented—such as at pump outlets, compressor piping systems, and similar installations.
Depending on the connection method, check valves are also available in various forms, including flanged, threaded, and wafer-style connections.
